The Furiae

Full of tears will be the day, when from
the ashes shall arise, a guilty being to be
judged for the only crime not comitted:
to be betrayed. Betrayed by their friends,
masters, siblings, councillors and lovers...

the Furiæ was born.

THE PREMISE

The Furiæ is a solo game inspired by 

• The Magus (Momatoes).
• El Hombre Abstracto (Luis Montejano Celma).
• Archipelago III(Matthijs Holter).
• Itras by (Ole Peder Giæver, Martin Bull Gudmundsen).

You will portray a character who belonged to a secret order in 1640, but suffered high treason... far beyond human comprehension. That day, the character died, but the Furiæ -an embodiment of Vengeance and Punishment- was born and took the full control of their body, mind and soul. The price was too high, but the the reward was very tempting.

THE GAME

In the Furiæ you use a set of obstreperous cards, pen and paper (or other format) to write an unique story of personal schemes in the shadows. You will move between delicate encounters and confront tempting oportunities for mastering ESSENCES or knitting fragile ATTACHMENTS. 

You will move on THE MAZE, a 5x5 board of unflipped cards, one of them will be your initial position. From there, you will have to move in any possible direction (north, south, east, west) on the Maze of Cards, dealing with intricate EVENTS. You can either choose to solve the current one or to move on to another one. But be careful...

You have time for only nine events before THE END, when the nine circles of the Inferno and the Erinyes come to judge you.

THIS  CURRENT VERSION 

• Full access to the Furiæ pdf (60 A5 horizontal pages at full color, with markers and hyperlinks included to quick searchs).
• Twenty-four events available. There are sixteen essence events and eight attachment events.
• The playingcards.io playroom file. Special thanks to Oromaito for suggestions and for the changes implemented through different playthroughs. In order to install it, just import the file in your playingcards.io account.
• The cards .pdf file if you want to print them for a physical version of the Maze.
• Plain text (clear) version of the main text in Google Slides format, according to the aesthetics of the game and friendly fonts. In addition, all the paintings of the event cards have a corresponding slide describing them.

I would especially like to thank Momatoes for her kind and encouraging words when I let her know that The Magus had inspired me so far, after a long period of creative break, to get back into game-design and game creation.
